A bad break-up can affect an individual in various ways. If a break-up has a negative impact on your personality, then it is absolutely necessary that you gain your confidence and move on. A break-up shouldn’t be a roadblock in your personal life.

A break-up often leads to depression, low self-esteem and even a sense of failure. Most individuals blame themselves for the end of a relationship, and this can affect their personal life at all times.  Here are a few ways to get over a messy break-up

1. Delete anything related to your ex on social media- Celebrities are known for doing this, and rightly so, it is very effective to a certain extent. Since everybody uploads every waking minute of their life on social media, looking at how happy you ex is without you will only make you feel worse. Announcing on social media that you want nothing to do with your ex, will make it easier to move on. As the saying goes, ‘Out of sight, out of mind’ eventually will bear fruit.

2. Do activities that make you happy by yourself – Try to do things that you love by yourself until you feel happy. Learning a new language or trying anything that you’ve always wanted to do, is the best way to distract yourself. It gives you the opportunity to meet new people and have new experiences. It helps you broaden your horizon but also gives new perspective

3. Don’t date if you’re not ready – Don’t jump at every chance you get for a rebound, just so that you can get revenge on your ex. This is pointless and useless. Try staying single and go out with friends and family. Don’t make commitments if you’re not ready yet. Just because your ex may have found someone new, doesn’t mean that they’ve won the battle. If you are happy being single, then you don’t need to compete, to find a new partner.
